Rock the Vote

Good Tuesday morning Messy Jess C. readers! Happy Election Day 2012.

This is my super special election day outfit I picked for this important day, and for all of you.

Now, I'm hoping you will do a favor for me in return and get out to the polls today.

Don't worry, I'm not going to get all party animal on you, it's just that I believe voting is an important way to voice your opinions about elected leaders and policies that affect each and every one of our lives. It also is a constitutional right that many have fought for, marched for, and even died for in the past and we sometimes take that for granted.

So, if you haven't already, look up who is on the ballot and check out their platforms so you get make informed decisions and rock the vote today.

I'll get off my soap box now and instead share this fun recipe for the perfect election day cocktail, appropriately named El Presidente and this tasty recipe for election day cake pops.

Enjoy!

Hodgepodge

Happy Monday friends! How were your weekends?

My weekend was a hodgepodge of fun. My sister came to visit, we went for a nice long run on Saturday morning, tested out new restaurants in the area, and did some shopping - I came home with a container from the container store.

Ping Pong Dim Sum:

Green Pig Bistro:

Bakeshop Bakery where they sell Oreos in a Blanket, basically oreos baked inside a cookie (but they were consumed too quickly by Jesse for me to take a picture of them):

Fuego with amazing margs, guac, and veggie enchiladas:

 Starbucks with the ladies...Red Cups!

Jesse and I also cleaned and organized our back sun room to turn it into something that looks less like a storage space and more like an office. And yesterday I had my first gingerbread latte of the season in a fancy red cup followed by brunch with our friends up in Bethesda. Jesse and I then made an impromptu trip to Ikea which resulted in the rest of the evening being consumed by putting some of the furniture we bought together with those fancy Ikea Allen Wrenches we all know and love. Then I went grocery shopping.

Our new and improved office:

The only annoyance of the weekend is that Jesse just discovered Gangnam Style...although that may have been my fault...and he keeps singing it, so just when I get it out of my head, he manages to get it back in my head, on repeat.

That is the story of my weekend. Let me know what you did this weekend. Hope you all have a great start to the week!

Friday Favorites

Did Friday come up fast, or what!? I guess a weekend followed by the city being shut down for two days makes that happen. Anyhow, Happy Friday! Time for this week's Friday Favorites.

Pinhole Press has some of the cutest and most professional looking photo products, including photo books, calendars, baby books, and this personalized memory game. What a great gift idea!

Another quick and easy winter gift idea...hot chocolate mix, marshmallows, with a side of Baileys. Yum.
